Services

Health teams are an approach to care that brings together different health care providers within our facility to provide the best care for you. Our growing team consists of:

Physicians/Nurse Practitioners

Our physicians/nurse practitioners are dedicated to providing you with current and first rate health care advice. Physicians/nurse practitioners within the clinic regularly attend Continuing Medical Education (CME) to ensure they have the most up to date information to pass on to you. Menzies Medical Centre has physicians/nurse practitioners who provide maternity care with 2 of those physicians specializing in higher risk deliveries. We also have physicians/nurse practitioners who specialize in family medicine, anesthesia and sports medicine and are able to assist you with physicals, third party forms from Workers Compensation Board, as well as driver and aviation medical exams.  Manitobans seeking a primary care provider can call the current provincial phone number (204) 786-7111 OR toll free 1- 866-690-8260 for assistance

Nurses

Our dedicated team of nurses are committed to your health and well-being. They can help you communicate with your provider, manage your chronic conditions, keep you up to date with immunizations, and perform tests to help determine the care you need. Our nurses are driven to stay on top of the most recent trends and research in health concerns and management. With individual experience in ER, Neonatal Intensive Care, Long Term Care and other areas of our healthcare system, there is a wide range of knowledge and caring that can help you with whatever health needs you have.

Dietitian

Our registered dietitian is trained to provide advice about diet, food and nutrition. They will assist you in making healthy food choices, determining good from bad facts and establishing healthy eating plans.

All Registered Dietitians in Manitoba are members of the College of Dietitians of Manitoba. As a member of the college, a Registered Dietitian must practice according to set standards and laws that protect the public, just like you would expect from physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals.

Mental Health Worker

Shared Care Program is a mental health service that involves collaboration between family physicians, shared care (mental health) counsellor and psychiatry services in order to meet the mental health needs of patients in a primary care setting. Shared care counsellor completes a mental health assessment, reviews cases with psychiatry services as indicated and provides recommendations for treatment. This could involve connecting patients with services outside of the clinic if this will best serve their needs. Shared care counsellor will also provide short-term counselling that is focused on building patients’ skills to help manage their current mental difficulty. Shared care services are voluntary, provided to those who are 18 years and older and accessed by a referral from your family physician. There may be many different reasons why someone is referred to shared care, including some of the following: feelings of depression, mild anxiety, experiencing grief, low self-esteem or difficulty coping with stressors.

Pharmacist

Our onsite pharmacist is available to answer any questions you have about medication that has been prescribed by your physician/provider. They will also provide guidance to avoid potentially harmful combinations in your prescriptions as well as work with you to reduce or eliminate any medications that are no longer benefiting you. Our pharmacist also provides services in INR monitoring, diabetes care and immunizations.

Respiratory Therapist

Our respiratory therapist assists patients who have experienced trouble breathing from chronic respiratory disease such as asthma and COPD. They will work with your physician to develop the best treatment plan for your needs. Our Respiratory therapist can also assist you in your journey to quit smoking.

Social Worker

Our social worker meets with patients to help them identify their strengths and support them in overcoming social and emotional barriers to help them reach their goals. They will also help in navigating social services and ensuring patients understand and are applying for the correct benefits. Our social worker is also available for emotional support.
